For me, I have clothes that I love because they fit, look flattering, and are functional. And then I have clothes that I love. Clothes that I saw and they spoke to some part of my soul. However, the clothes that I love tend to be more impractical–I often won’t be able to wear them as much as my other clothes, even though they are my most cherished clothing items.
This dress and these shoes are two of my very favorites (although the dress has proved very versatile!). The jacket I hunted for over six months, before spying it in an article on College Fashion. It actually kind of surprised me that I hadn’t put these pieces together before now!
I wore this to the office and got several compliments on my shoes from self-identified fellow shoe addicts. Surprisingly, I ended up wearing these shoes for over 7 hours and they were fairly comfortable throughout that time.

When I visiting my parents at their workplace the other day, my mother saw this outfit. She said “I see you put in the bare minimum today.” I chose to interpret this to mean that my outfit was practical. Admittedly, this outfit is centered around the fact that I desperately wanted to wear yoga pants. I never realized how comfy they were until a couple weeks ago. Now I’m obsessed! I snagged a bunch of yoga pants recently when I ran into a $5 yoga pants sale while checking out the local stores (also known as: the mall). I’m still trying to find acceptable ways to wear them out in public.

So after a week long break, I’ve caught up on sleep, worked, wrote, and (in general) got a lot done. I’m also feeling refreshed and ready to throw myself back into my blog. Sometimes I just need some “me” time to recharge, so the week off really helped.
So far, these are the only pants in my closet that fit like they’re supposed to (and they’re still a little large). I recently checked my measurements and it’s no wonder that none of my pants are fitting because I’ve lost over 2 inches at my waist and hips. Unfortunately, the shopping ban is still in effect so I’ll be wearing dresses and skirts much more frequently from now on. I’ve also become disturbingly fond of this army jacket, and so I’m planning to throw it over everything for the next week or so (be warned).
I wore this to a work training thing for CPR/AED. However, when I got there it was cancelled! I would have been more irritated, but that just meant I got to go home and catch the East Coast showing of Game of Thrones.
These white flats get so much wear in my life, that I wish I had them in multiple colors. They’re just so comfortable! I tend to choose them over all other shoes, especially if I know I’ll be active or standing for long periods of time.
Also, I switched foundations last week! After repurchasing my Clinique foundation, I discovered it seemed darker and it just wasn’t matching my skin tone properly anymore. So after begrudgingly going to a friend’s Mary Kay party, I was surprised that they had a foundation shade that matched my skin (I had to get the palest one, ha!). For $20 (my two weeks pittance of an allowance from my shopping ban) I decided it was worth it to try it out. So far, I’m really liking it.

I didn’t realize until after I’d taken these photos that I actually matched my house. Whoops! Talk about blending in… Looking at this I wish I had added a scarf on top. A yellow scarf. Unfortunately I don’t own a yellow scarf, but not for lack of searching. The hunt is still on.
In other news I’ve discovered that I actually have a lot of jackets. For some reason I’m still in the mindset that I was last August were I was freaking out because I owned no blazers or jackets–so I keep thinking I don’t have any. And really? I have fifteen. I counted. So my goal for March is to wear all of them at least once. Prepare to see my jackets and blazers!
Also a super cool wind in the hair picture seems like the best way to show how great an outfit is. Plus, I needed a picture to pair with the boot picture.
In other news, I need to read a ridiculously large amount of Ada to get my “new habit” points for the Game On! Diet which ends on Monday–so no link round up this week. An outfit post takes a lot less time then reading my entire blog list. So you’ll just have to make due with pictures this week instead of links.
