This frilly little dress was given to me by a coworker. She was worried that I would be offended because the dress is a size large, but I told her I just wear what fits — no matter the size. When she gave it to me, I was delighted. It has a great pattern and I end up wearing it about once a week (no shame). It fits perfectly into my outfit rotation for work.
Also–I’ve been trying to teach boyfriend how to take good outfit pictures. He’s learning!
Jeans have become a thing of the past, lately. I’ve switched to wearing skirts and dresses–since my workplace requires a business casual style. As much as I have resisted wearing skirts in the past–I’m starting to find I don’t mind it nearly as much as I used to.
And can I just say that I completely foresaw the “mint” trend? I bought this dress off Modcloth a couple years ago and then a year or so later I began to see mint colored items everywhere!
While on vacation I picked up this dress and one other from a cute little boutique. Unfortunately, I couldn’t remember the name of it and the bag they gave me didn’t have a name on it either! I ended up wearing this to my appointment with my hairstylist on one particularly sunny day. Highlights and a haircut definitely fixed up my hair after vacation!
In the height of awesomeness, I went to Starbucks the other day (and I was running late and starving since I hadn’t eaten breakfast) and when I pulled up to the window someone had already paid for my stuff. Pay it forward! However, my attempt to pay it forward this morning was thwarted since I was the only person in the drive thru.

Remember how none of my pants fit when I lost a bunch of weight and I had to buy new jeans? Well, it was the same way with any sort of professional pant. Since I already had to buy new black slacks, I headed to the Gap and finally tried on their slim cropped pant. I love cropped pants. I didn’t even have to hem these because they hit me at just the right length.
I ended up wearing this to my new Saturday office job. Then I went home and changed into shorts so I wouldn’t die from the heat as I strolled around town to snag myself some tasty peppermint ice cream.

Obviously I went AWOL for the month of May. I knew the last half of the month would be crazy, but I didn’t realize quite how crazy. I pretty much ended up switching between work clothes, pajamas, and workout gear–with several random outfits thrown in that (of course) didn’t get photographed.
Its been reasonably warm in Washington, so I’ve been mostly wearing jeans and tank tops. Which is really nothing to write home (or blog) about, anyways. Although I really regretted wearing jeans when I went to Seattle a couple Saturdays ago–shorts would definitely have been a better choice!
These red flats have started making a comeback. They’re comfortable and give a great pop of color. As for this floral skirt? It’s about to become one of my summer staples. Nothing puts you in a better mood than a pretty flouncy skirt.
In an utterly shocking development, one of my work outfits was actually blog worthy! (Excuse the wrinkles on the skirt–I’d been wearing it for 7 hours at this point!) Admittedly, I switched out my work shirt for this tee–but otherwise everything else is the same. I do wish I’d added some jewelry, but its just not on my radar at 4 am! I’ve started to wear skirts to work more frequently, because I’ve gotten very sick of ill fitting pants. Thanks to my shopping ban, I really can’t buy any new pants until it’s over!
And if I look exhausted, it’s because I really am. However, I’m not scheduled to work for the next week so I’m happily going to catch up on sleep and create a backlog of posts in preparation for the 16 through the 31. One of my coworkers gave her two weeks notice, so I had to pick up a bunch of shifts. It does mean more money, but it also means a lot less sleep!
Skirts also mean I can wear flats, which is wonderful since my feet have been protesting the constant wear of heels lately. These red ones are in a pretty close tie with my white ones for all time favorite flats.
Strangely enough, the only item I actually purchased was the belt. Kind of funny when you put an outfit together of only borrowed or gifted items.
This is another dress that I borrowed during my (partial) closet swap with a friend of mine. It’s not something i would normally attempt to wear (drop waisted) but when I put it on, I actually liked it. So I decided to try to make it work.
I tried out a hair tutorial I saw on youtube, and definitely feel it was a success. This is only the first day of wear, but I found I liked the second a little better since the hair had relaxed a bit more.
When I pulled out this dress, I kind of wondered what I was going to pair it with. I’d already paired it with my jean jacket and I really liked that combo. So I hunted through my cardigan drawer and found this striped cardigan that I haven’t worn in awhile. I really like the stripes on stripes look, I think it’s pretty fun.
Funny thing: when I buy something I can usually imagine 5-10 possible ways to remix it in my wardrobe. As soon as I wear the item once, I seem to forget all the other ways I planned to wear it. I’ve actually started to write down different outfit combos in a mini notebook so I can remember all the good ideas i’ve had!
This little sapphire and yellow gold ring was my mother’s before she gave it to me for my high school graduation. Instead of a class ring, I got this pretty little thing instead!
Wore this out to coffee this morning. The morning started out rainy and drizzly but thankfully, the sun came out! Of course, the typically overcast sky disappeared right before I took pictures.
This outfit is likely very similar to something I’ve posted in the past. I kind of just threw on whatever this morning to make it out the door. I’m not at my most intelligent (or thoughtful) before I’ve had my morning coffee.
Obviously, this is a pretty late outfit post because I didn’t get dressed yesterday. I ended up spending the day on Pottermore which has finally opened to everyone! I got sorted into Slytherin. If anyone else is on there, you can add me! My name is WillowScale15047.
This knit tank is gorgeous, but it is the worst in regards to actually staying in good condition. I ended up pulling threads twice in two minutes this morning! I’m always reminded why I never owned any knits before this year when I wear this shirt.
