Outfit Details: Jean Jacket: Se7en; Floral Tank: Romy; White Tank: American Eagle; Jeans: Ross; Shoes: Ross.

I attempted a new location for outfit photos, and unfortunately it wasn’t as successful as I was hoping for. Work scheduled a meeting a couple weeks ago, and I got there a bit early so I had some time to kill. Outfit photos in a wooded area seemed like a good use of my time–but they just didn’t turn out how I wanted.

This jean jacket has pretty much become my summer uniform. I’ve managed to throw it over most every outfit. I bought it in 7th grade, and it’s still stylish enough that I can get wear out of it!

I’ve started curling my hair more often, when I have the time. I think a nice hairstyle can really help an outfit. Even though this is a more casual outfit, those curls put a spring in my step and give me some extra confidence (like wearing high heels!).

Flower Child

Outfit Details: Floral Top: via small local boutique; Tank Top: Old Navy; Jeans: Se7ens, via; Shoes (old): Steve Madden; Necklace: gift.

This outfit didn’t turn out exactly how I had hoped. I really wanted to add a jacket or blazer but these high waisted jeans made it difficult and nothing seemed to be working. I’ll probably try again in a week or two.

Sadly, the actual amount of jeans I have that fit is very small. I’ve so far deluded myself into believing that my jeans that are size too big are just “boyfriend jeans.” I do have two or three pairs that actually fit. This particular pair finally got hemmed and fit perfectly now! Sorry for the wrinkles, but I’m terrible about not wrinkling clothing.

This floral blouse is gorgeous, even though it does tend to make me look heavier than I am. I love it enough that I ignore that though. I’m actually delighted that I tried layering it over a bright tank top, since I tend to layer it with the same camisole over and over. I fully plan to work this into my wardrobe more often.

I’m starting to try and make an effort to involve jewelry in my outfit posts. Here’s hoping this necklace is the start of a trend! Also–I’m hoping this will help me hunt down some of my missing pieces of jewelry.

Also–I realize this is a super late Wednesday post, but better late than never!

Where Has The Time Gone?

Outfit Details: Cardigan: Gap; Tank: Old Navy, gift; Skirt: purchased at a small boutique; Shoes: Ross

Obviously I went AWOL for the month of May. I knew the last half of the month would be crazy, but I didn’t realize quite how crazy. I pretty much ended up switching between work clothes, pajamas, and workout gear–with several random outfits thrown in that (of course) didn’t get photographed.

Its been reasonably warm in Washington, so I’ve been mostly wearing jeans and tank tops. Which is really nothing to write home (or blog) about, anyways. Although I really regretted wearing jeans when I went to Seattle a couple Saturdays ago–shorts would definitely have been a better choice!

These red flats have started making a comeback. They’re comfortable and give a great pop of color.  As for this floral skirt? It’s about to become one of my summer staples. Nothing puts you in a better mood than a pretty flouncy skirt.

Only Daylight Souvenirs

Outfit Details: Headband: gift; Tank: Kirra, gift; Necklace: gift; Shorts (old): American Eagle; Sandals: K-mart.

I wore this Tuesday, because instead of getting dressed after work on Monday I fell into bed and didn’t wake up until 6pm! So this hair has been twice slept on (Monday afternoon and Monday night).

I actually created this outfit around the headband. I pulled it out of a drawer in my bathroom to keep my hair back while I washed my face. Then I decided I liked the contrast with my hair and went hunting for a blue top. One I found the tank, the rest of the outfit just fell into place. Can you tell I’ve been thinking summer a lot?

Second day hair always seems to be a little bit better than the first. The messy bedhead look is always what I’m going for. As for these sandals–I predict they’ll be my summer staple. I keep gravitating towards them every day!

Title stolen from this song.

Walk A Fragile Line

Outfit Details: Shirt: thrifted (borrowed); Corset/skirt: handmade (borrowed); Shoes: Buffalo Exchange; Necklace: Forever 21.

Remember earlier this month when I mentioned a friend of mine wanted to expand her photography skills? She’d mostly photographed nature before, so she wanted to get some shots of people. Obviously, I volunteered!

My friend is very big on sewing, so I ended up wearing things she had made–this gorgeous corset being one of them. Admittedly, after I took it off I remembered how nice breathing is, but it definitely defined my waist in a great way.

I’ll be honest and say that there was pretty much no way I could have worn this for a whole day–but I did wear it for several hours.

I’m also trying to post any photos/outfits that have my old hair in them–since I dyed my hair on Monday.

Bonus: You can see how much I paid for my shoes.

Outfit Details: Purple Tank: Forever 21; Knit Floral Tank: Romy; Cardigan: Target; Jeans: Current/Eliott; Shoes: Blowfish, gift.

Wore this out to coffee this morning. The morning started out rainy and drizzly but thankfully, the sun came out! Of course, the typically overcast sky disappeared right before I took pictures.

This outfit is likely very similar to something I’ve posted in the past. I kind of just threw on whatever this morning to make it out the door. I’m not at my most intelligent (or thoughtful) before I’ve had my morning coffee.

Obviously, this is a pretty late outfit post because I didn’t get dressed yesterday. I ended up spending the day on Pottermore which has finally opened to everyone! I got sorted into Slytherin. If anyone else is on there, you can add me! My name is WillowScale15047.

This knit tank is gorgeous, but it is the worst in regards to actually staying in good condition. I ended up pulling threads twice in two minutes this morning! I’m always reminded why I never owned any knits before this year when I wear this shirt.

One Week

Outfit Details: Top: Forever 21; Pants: Forever 21; Shoes: White House, Black Market.

This is my first outfit post in awhile (almost an entire week). I’ve been terribly busy and mostly wearing either yoga pants, a tank top, and a ponytail or my work uniform of black slacks and standard issue t-shirt. Obviously, these are not very photographable.

However, these minty jeans are my new closet favorite at this point. I think I’ve worn them at least 3-4 times in the past week. I throw them on to run errands and they’ve really become my go-to piece.

I decided on black shoes to match the black sash. I would have loved to do yellow, but I don’t have a pair of yellow shoes, sadly.

This twist was my attempt at pretty hair. It’s not nearly as successful as my last attempt. I think I used a bit too much hair in the twist and didn’t leave enough down.

W is for Wide Leg

Outfit Details: Top: Forever 21; Jeans: Seven, via; Shoes: DVF, via

I fully admit that this is an iffy outfit. I love wide leg pants of which I own multiple pairs. However, the majority of them aren’t hemmed. As you can obviously tell these jeans desperately need to be hemmed (by about two inches, I think) even though I’m wearing my tallest shoes (with a platform!).

I do love these jeans, though. I snagged them off for a song but they were unfortunately a size 27 and I normally wear a 29. Of course, I figured I would lose weight and I actually have! Enough to wear these (pretty) comfortably!

I’m hemming them (and other pairs) tonight, so hopefully you’ll be seeing them a lot more on here!

No detail shots, because I’m attempting to get out the door and hit the gym.

Better Late than Never

Outfit Details: Cardigan: Target; Top: via local boutique, Nostalgia; Jeans: Per Se, via Ross; Shoes: Gucci, via Texas Gladrags.

When I went to bed last night, I fully planned on doing The ABC’s of Style “T is for Tomboy”. When I woke up late, that kind of put a damper on things. However, I figured I’d just get some stuff done in the morning, then get dressed and photograph my outfit later. Finally, at 6pm, I conceded defeat. The day had definitely beat me.

Hence why this outfit is not particular tomboy-ish at all. In fact, I photographed this on a Saturday/Sunday awhile ago and figured it would go up after the ABC’s of Style. Not the case!

This top is one of those that is strangely difficult for me to style. I typically wear it with the same cardigan, same jeans and just change up the footwear. However, this brown cardigan goes nicely with it! So I was able to switch it up!

In other news, when I went thrifting awhile back we went to Texas Gladrags which does designer resale. Most everything in the store was half off and it was like walking into designer paradise. I tried on every shoe in my size (or a half size up, or a half size down…) but these boots were the only thing I took home with me.

They’re probably the most comfortable shoes I own. Holy cow! I could wear these all day long and these suckers are heeled! Even better? I picked them up a very very cheap $67. Total.

As a warning: Monday’s outfit post is going to be late! I’m leaving for the weekend to visit some Bellingham friends. I’ve got posts scheduled on Saturday and Sunday, but I really want to participate in the ABC’s of Style on Monday again. But “Unexpected” does it give me too much to go off of.

Pattern Mixing & J is for Jewel Tones

Outfit Details: Scarf: Ebay; Dress: TJ Maxx (Juniors section); Cardigan: gift; Belt: TJ Maxx; Shoes:

Freckles in April

I always have so much fun trying out pattern mixing challenges. Today’s outfit was very spur of the moment. I’d just finished laundry so most of these items were lying in easy reach (on my floor). I looked over and saw the floral cardigan and I was like “ah ha! I’ll pair it with something else.” That’s when I rifled through my closet and found this dress. I decided they would go together. And for fun, I threw another patterned scarf on top. Sometimes I love going overboard.

Then I realized I was supposed to be doing this all in jewel tones. Whoops! So I threw on my brightly colored belt instead of my brown one, and then added my favorite pair of pumps.

It feels fun and wild, and simply enjoyable. As a side note: who doesn’t love second day hair that is instantly wearable? It feels all Veronica Lake to me with the curls having been brushed out and swooping around.
